Young people participated in the city training course for The Tall Ships' Races 2009 crew members started sailing training.
In March and April trainees learned theoretical part of the course, in May they participated in vessels repair and preparation for navigation. Now as crew members they will get sailing training in the Gulf of Finland. On June, 12-14 many crews will try themselves in the famous «100-miles Race». Yachts will start from Kronshtadt and compete in speed and tactics on course round Nerva island. For most participants this will be their first serious sailing. Some crews also plan short train sailing to Vyborg, Primorsk and Kronshtadt forts.
While this sailing not only yachting technique is learned but also the psychological compatibility of a team and crew’s ability to face difficulties is examined. Basing on the training sailing results captains make their decision to include a trainee into his crew.
