Entertainment program at Lieutenant Shmidt embankment
During the regatta’s stay in St.Petersburg the Neva river embankment (Lieutenant Shmidt embankment) from the 9th line of Vasilievsky Island to the Mining University (Vasilivsky Island, 2st line, Building 2) becomes great entertainment park. Music concerts, performances, contests, stages with animators, Russian folk arts fair will be opened there. Participation in this non-stop program will be available for all guests, not only for crews.
Especially for small children a playground with trampolines will be marked out. For elder guests and adults the attractions park, model of traditional Russian village, «Masters town» and other activities will be organized:
- Circus performance
- Children pop groups concert «Baltic Star»
- Jazz festival «Jazz over the Baltics»
- Russian ballet stars performance
- Artistic performance of St.Petersburg theaters opera soloists accompanied by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra
- Dance contest of youth bands «Baltic Beat»
- Alternative music concert
- Graffiti festival on marine theme
- Extreme show of the Russian Knights aerobatic team…
On board of a real tall ship
July, 11-14, more than 100 aged big sail ships and moden yachts will be moored at Lieutenant Shmidt embankment and English («Angliyskaya») embankment. St.Petersburg dwellers and guests can get on board and can try themselves as captains standing at the wheel, explore decks and crew's quarters. Ships crews will welcome visitors July 11-13, from 12.00 to 18.00.
Young Journalists Contest
The Internet has become an integral part of our lives. Blogs, live journals, social networks, personal pages sometimes have more visitors than media portals. Therefore, after the journalistic professional competition Regatta Organizing Committee announces a contest for the best publication on international sailing regatta of training ships "THE TALL SHIPS RACES 2009" among users.
Criteria: quality of material, number of visits (we accept any statistics of attendance), number of citations in the Internet (for search engines).
You can send your applications: pci75@bk.ru. The results of the contest will be announced on June, 15. The main prize is a walk on the white yacht in the waters of the Gulf of Finland.
Maritime Photo Contest
Port Committee and the Central Naval Museum in conjunction with Internet portal conduct a competition among professional and amateur photographers. There are three nominations declared:
- «Episodes of museum life»: photos of visitors, museum workers in the museum;
- «Sea in the streets»: maritime elements on the streets of the city, elements of architecture, modern city landscape, photographs of rivers, canals, bridges, and the Gulf of Finland;
- «Maritime Art»: maritime photos processed with «Adobe Photoshop» - imagination and creativity to see unusual and emphasize it through the graphic editor.
Rules and application form
Photo works of the winners will be exhibited at the embankment in the coastal zone of regatta from July 11 till July, 14. Works are accepted till June, 30. |
