Constructed in 1975 on the Leningrad shipyard of experimental sport ship-building by request of the Navy of USSR for the yacht-club of the Leningrad Naval Base.

The yacht “Bylina” is a head yacht (factory number 1) in the set of yachts of the type “Alkor”, which are the modification of cruiser-racing yachts (class L6).

The maximum number of crewmembers onboard at a long voyage or a race is of 8 persons (according to the number of berths).

The yacht is supplied with the complete set of the modern radio-navigating equipment, rescue means and other elements of sea supply. Sailing set consists of 10 sails.

In 1975-1987 the yacht (Captain Nedyalkov K.V.) actively participated in the majority of sports sailing regattas of Leningrad and USSR on Baltic Sea. Not once it became the prize-winner and took the first place in its class in the Championships of Leningrad and the International regattas of cruiser yachts “Cup of Baltic”.

In 1990-1991 on Bylina there were major repairs carried out by means of the crew and with the help of sponsors. Serious re-equipment was made taking into account requirements and Rules of the International Educational Sailing Association.

The yacht "Bylina" participated in the International regattas of Educational sailing-boats 6 times – in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 2000 and 2007. During these years as a part of youth crews there were cadets of the Army-Medical Kirov Academy, cadets of the State Naval admiral Makarov Academy, students of the Northwest academy of public service, students of the St.-Petersburg branch of the High school of economy, members of the British organisation of sea cadets.

As a rule there are 3 adult and skilled crew members and 5 young men and girls not over 25 years old onboard the Bylina during regattas of educational sailing-boats.

During the period of 1990-2008 Bylina, participating in distant cruises and regattas of educational sailing-boats, has been to more than 30 various ports of foreign countries (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Norway, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium).

In 2007 and 2008 Bylina crew successfully participated in the sea youth projects organised by yachtspersons of the LenVmB together with the Committee on the youth policy and interaction with public organisations of the Administration of St.-Petersburg.

Last 5-6 years Bylina crew actively participates in many city sailing regattas, taking the 3-5 places. The best result is the third place in Championship of Russia 2008 among yachts of class L6.

Bylina crew is an active member of the Association of yachts of class L6, the initiator and the participant of many sea projects of the Sea Council of the Government of St.-Petersburg. One of the brightest projects is the revival of the International status of traditional sailing race on «the CUP of 100 miles», that took place in 1852 for the first time. Since 2001 this race is held by the Association of yachts of class L6 together with the 81 Sports club LenVmB. Since 2005 it is held for prizes of the Sea Council at the Government of St.-Petersburg.

Since 1988 and to the present day the captain of Bylina is a yachts captain Berezkin Andrey Alekseevich (e-mail: berezkin@sail.sp.ru), the vice-president of the Association of yachts of class L6, the vice-president of the Association of the owners of passenger ships of St.-Petersburg, the vice-president of section on sea and river tourism of the Sea Council at the Government of St.-Petersburg. The basic place of work – the Baltic Academy of tourism and business, the senior lecturer of the Tourism Department.
