July 2-5, Gdynia hosted The Tall Ships' Races 2009 Baltic

The regatta began with the traditional opening ceremony after which the city and port administrations organized Captains’ Dinner.

In the port each ship passed through technical check. 14 Russian vessels accepted the regatta’s official pennon. Participants took part in the Crew Parade and had a party. Next day young sailors had a bus tour to Gdansk.

On July 4 all captains’ meeting was organized. To answer questions about frontier and customs check on the way to Russia the St.Petersburg Port Committee had sent to Gdynia a big team of representatives and liaison officers. In Gdynia all crews accepted customs declaration forms, sim-cards for telephone numbers, fuel certificates and detailed instructions.

St.Petersburg waits first ships on July 8. But frontier and customs check will be finished on July 10. Since 11 July morning all vessels are opened for public and journalists.

All crews thanked Gdynia for remarkable and hearty welcome.
